Texas Weather
The ole saying goes, “If you don’t like the Texas weather, just wait a day!” That could not be more true than the so-called winter of 2016-2017.
I hadn’t really thought about it before but Texas weather can definitely affect the real estate market.
Very few buyers are calling me when it is cold, dreary and rainy. Sellers don’t want to talk about selling their homes when frigid temperatures are here. It does seem that my phone rings a lot more on bright sunny days! Fortunately, here is Texas we have a abundance of sunshine which promotes our real estate market.
The pseudo Texas winter has not hurt our market in Texas this year. We have a few cold, dreary, and rainy days. Then, we have “spring” again. People hibernate and troll on Zillow or other online home resources during the cold days. Then the warm weather allows them to act upon their wintry finds.
The above average temperatures have in Texas weather are wonderful for the real estate market. People are open and ready to buy and sell! They want to go from home to home in search of the perfect place!
The mild winter makes one wonder about the upcoming spring and summer. Are we going to pay for the warm temperatures by enduring a warm spring and incredibly HOT summer? Texans know that is highly likely. Our summers are generally very hot and very dry. Texans don’t seem to let the typical summer weather hold them back. It takes more than a 100 degree plus day to keep a determined buyer or seller down! We have many homes with pools in Texas and summer is the perfect time to sell those amenities. When a buyer sees that refreshing oasis on a sweltering day, you can mark it as SOLD!
